I went with Susan on Saturday to buy her new truck:

Susan...to put that in your blog, cut and paste the following into blogger:

What a day...I drove down to Jackson to talk to Steve and Susan about the Library's needs for new server, and then Susan, her mom Flo (nee "Flo-Bess"), and I were going to go to Hazard to buy her an Escape. We left for Hazard a little after 11. She had her mind set on one with a moonroof, V6, 4WD, and the works.

Well, we got to hazard, found the truck she loved, and they wouldn't budge on price. We figured-out she had to have a 2005, and they had a $1k rebate on 'em. These trucks were listing for $27k or so, but we were offering $24-$24.5 to start. No joy in Hazard.

I thought that would be it, honestly. :-) I was wrong.

So, then we went to West Liberty, to the same dealership where Dad and I bought that monstrous Black-on-Gray 1991 Ford F-250 with the ultra-weak 5.8L V8 (whopping 220 hp) and the even-weaker E4OD transmission. Gave me the chills. We were there for over an hour, getting the hardest sell I've ever dealt with. I felt like I needed a shower to rinse-off the grime from the place.

Then we drove from West Liberty to Mt. Sterling via US460. I was getting a little nauseated, because I spent most of the time trying to figure-out what sort of prinicple Susan could afford to get the payment she wanted.

Got to Mt. Sterling, but they didn't have any Escapes that beckoned so we drove to Winchester. Understand, now, we're like 150 miles into this trip :-)

So we hit Cole Ford in Winchester, arriving 5 minutes before 5, to find only salesman Curt who desperately wanted to sell his 3rd car of the day to earn his $50 bonus. So, she bought the truck you see above.

I got to drive her Focus home behind her and her Mom in the Escape.
